The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba (PAAU), Prof Marietu Ohunene Tenuche, has called on government at all levels to urgently establish mechanism where patients suffering from cancer could receive treatment at subsidised rate as a result of huge capital involvement in handling the ailment.
Tenuche, who noted that the treatment of the disease is becoming unaffordable for many patients in Nigeria made the call during the recent memorial lecture held in honour of former Provost of the College of Health Sciences at PAAU, Dr Emmanuel Busayo Agbana, who died of cancer last year.
