Amusan leads Nigeria’s 4x100m women’s relay team to gold

A few days after missing her 100m hurdles event due to illness at the ongoing 2024 Africa Senior Athletics Championships in Douala, Cameroon, world record holder in the women’s 100 hurdles, Tobi Amusan, Monday, anchored Nigeria’s 4x100m women’s relay team to gold.

The victory increased Nigeria’s gold medal haul to four at the championship.

Titiana Eyakpobeya started a great race and handed over Tima Godbless on time. Godbless did not disappoint, as she overpowered her challengers to hand the baton to Olayinka Olajide. She ran the last bend to hand over to Amusan, who anchored and crossed the finish line in a time of 42.72s.

The gold was celebrated by Nigerian officials inside the Japoma stadium.
