Unregistered cars will be impounded, Oyo CP warns motorists

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police (CP), Ayodele Sonubi, has described driving unregistered vehicles as an abnormality requiring the impoundment of such cars by the police.

The CP said this following Monday’s enforcement campaign of the third-party insurance policy on motorists within the Ibadan metropolis.

Sonubi said the command would start impounding vehicles with irregular documents and their owners taken before the law court.

He said the third-party vehicle insurance enforcement would be a continuous exercise in compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police (I-G) Kayode Egbetokun.

According to Sonubi, those driving imported vehicles (Tokunbo) have a speculated period allowed in law to regularise their papers accordingly.
