The clash between two rival groups, also known as Sara Suka, has left at least five people dead during the Sallah Eid-el-Fitr celebration in Jos, Plateau State.
The incident occurred several hours after Muslims had completed their prayers on Sunday at the Al-Mohap prayer ground, located in the hinterlands of Jos North Council.
The two groups had been embroiled in a long-standing feud before the latest incident.
Aside from the clash, eyewitnesses said the Eid-el-Fitr celebration in Jos was largely peaceful.
Church services for Christians proceeded without disturbance, as both communities observed their religious practices in harmony. Muslims heading to the Ali Kazaure prayer ground passed by Christians on their way to church, exchanging pleasantries in a show of mutual respect and goodwill.
