Anne-Marie Imafidon to take over as chancellor of Glasgow university

British-Nigerian tech entrepreneur Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE is set to take over as the chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University.

34-year-old Imafidon will take up the new role after a graduation ceremony in July. She will succeed Annie Lennox OBE, who stepped down in 2023.

“To be welcomed to an institution that stands for the common good is one of the greatest honours of my life,” Imafidon said.

In her new role, she will confer degrees on students and help promote Glasgow Caledonian University’s vision.

Imafidon was the youngest ever to pass A-Level computing at just 11 years old and was one of the youngest people ever to receive a Master’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Oxford.

She was voted the Most influential woman in tech in the UK in 2020 and was the 2022-2023 President of the British Science Association.
