The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will not release Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to third parties, noting that collection must be done in person by the registered voter.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, made this known in a statement on Tuesday.
Olumekun disclosed that the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards to new applicants across Edo State local government areas will commence today.
He added that the ward-level distribution, which took place from August 22 to 26, resulted in the collection of 125,928 PVCs out of 184,438 new cards issued, representing a 68.3% collection rate.
Olumekun said the figure represented 68.3 per cent of the 184,438 new cards issued during the recent Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
