But the activities of land grabbers are largely propelled by increasing urbanisation, industrialisation, greed by individuals and government officials, as well as a high rate of agribusiness expansion nationwide that has made land a scarce commodity. Also, the infamous activities of encroachers and poor governance structure in land administration, alongside ineffective implementation of existing laws, constitute a cog in the wheel of progress in property acquisition.
