The protracted battle for the throne of Kano emirate took a fresh dimension yesterday as Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, urged President Bola Tinubu to move the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, out of the state.
The deputy governor also faulted the police command in Kano for dispersing some aggrieved youths who went on rampage on Wednesday to register their displeasure over the continued stay of Bayero at the Nassarawa mini palace.
Gwarzo who made the appeal while addressing party loyalists at the Coronation Hall, Government House, insisted that Kano is tired of the way security operatives are encouraging Bayero’s stay after the court affirmation of his dethronement. He lamented continued use of the police and military to oppress the state government, warning against any attempt to truncate democracy in Kano.
