A non-governmental organisation, Accountabilitylab Nigeria, organised a one-day sensitization workshop for Civil Society Organisations in Benue on Wednesday in Makurdi.
The workshop aimed at creating awareness among the populace on their rights in cyberspace and educating them on the steps to take when such rights are infringed upon.
Odeh Friday, Country Director of Accountabilitylab, explained that “so far, Nigerians are unaware of their digital rights, and they are now being taken advantage of.
“We aim to train the Civil Society Organisations so that they can, on their own, individually or collectively, sensitize the people on their digital rights.”
Mr. Odeh said that this is important because, at the moment, there is no compliance and no enforcement. People’s digital rights, he said, are wantonly violated without any consequences.
