AS part of global effort of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) campaign, staff of the Ogun State Assault Referral Centres (SARC) and Gender Officers in the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development have been trained on the necessary skills to manage the centres effectively and provide critical support to survivors of GBV.
Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs. Adejumoke Adewole, while declaring open the five-day training programme, organised by Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP) in conjunction with the ministry, described the initiative as timely and pivotal in addressing GBV issues.
Adewole underscored the state government’s commitment to safeguarding survivors and ensuring that GBV issues are treated with professional and compassionate responses, stating that the training was in line with the global call to action.
