Plateau moves to set up health council

The Plateau Government has set up a committee to establish a State Council on Health to boost qualitative healthcare delivery.

Dr Nicholas Baamlong, Plateau Commissioner for Health, inaugurated the 20-member committee on Wednesday in Jos.

Baamlong said that the committee’s responsibility was to develop and implement strategic plans to improve the health and well-being of citizens.

The commissioner, who was represented by Dr Stephen Bishmang, Director of Medical Services, said the challenges facing the health sector were complex and multifaceted.

He said that a collaborative and inclusive approach to problem-solving was required.
