The Nigeria Police Force has announced the recovery of over ₦1 billion stolen from the Enugu State Government through a cyber fraud operation.
Reports indicate that the swift intervention of the National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) not only ensured the recovery of the funds but also led to the arrest of the prime suspect, Onuma Osita.
Osita, accused of orchestrating the heist, had transferred ₦1,097,700,300 (approximately $754,977) before his capture.
During the operation, police seized critical evidence, including 14 land documents, mobile devices, laptops, and a drone linked to the crime.
Further investigations unearthed another layer of the syndicate, leading to the arrest of Douglass Victor.
Authorities revealed Victor’s connection to an international network specializing in identity theft and business email compromise.
