Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, has welcomed the judgement of the Supreme Court that upheld the decision of the lower courts affirming his return as the duly elected governor of the state.
The governor also extended an olive branch to the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Murtala Ajaka, and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dino Melaye, urging them to work together towards moving the state forward.
Ododo was the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the November 11, 2023 governorship election in the state.
A five-member panel of the court unanimously held that the appeal by Ajaka to challenge Ododo’s victory lacked merit.
Sadiq Umar, who read the lead judgement, dismissed the appeal after resolving all three issues identified for determination against the appellants.
