Nigerian journalist and the publisher/editor-in-chief of Premium Times, Dapo Olorunyomi, has stressed the crucial role of data in modern journalism.
He noted the importance of data literacy in journalism, distinguishing between organic data such as words, sounds, and graphics, and harnessing data to provide analysis, insights, and visualisation.
Olorunyomi, while speaking in Abuja at the launch of the Dataphyte hub and the unveiling of a theatre in his honour on Wednesday, said that data is the backbone of journalism, essential for storytelling, reporting, and financing.
